Photo retouching focuses on correcting small imperfections — skin blemishes, uneven texture, minor spots — while keeping the subject looking like themselves. Photo enhancement is broader: adjusting brightness, color, contrast and sharpness to make an image look its best. Editing can include both, plus cropping, compositing or removing elements entirely. Compression, by contrast, isn't about appearance at all — it reduces file size, sometimes at a small cost to detail.
