How to Edit a PDF Online

  1. Choose or drag a PDF into the editor — it loads entirely in your browser.
  2. Pick a tool from the toolbar: text, draw, highlight, shape, image or signature.
  3. Click or drag on the page to place and adjust your edit; use the right-hand panel for fine-tuning.
  4. Manage pages from the left sidebar — reorder, rotate, duplicate or delete as needed.
  5. Click Save to download your edited PDF, with every change baked into the file.

Is My PDF Uploaded?

No. This editor renders your PDF with PDF.js and applies edits with pdf-lib, both running as JavaScript inside your own browser tab. The file is read from your device into memory, edited there, and the download is generated locally — it is never transmitted to a server as part of the editing process. If you separately choose to enable local recovery, a temporary copy may be kept in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB) purely so you can recover unsaved work after a crash; you can clear it any time from the More menu.

Supported PDF Features

Standard, multi-page, text-heavy, image-heavy and scanned PDFs are supported, including large documents rendered a few pages at a time for performance. Password-protected PDFs can be opened once you provide the password. For text replacement, the editor detects the nearest standard font family, font size, bold/italic styling, and samples foreground and background colours from the rendered page. It then carries that style into newly added text. Exact reproduction of unusual subset-embedded or licensed custom fonts is not always possible in a browser. Very unusual or malformed PDFs may not render perfectly; the editor reports the problem instead of failing silently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF is opened and edited locally inside your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib. The file never leaves your device during editing.

Is this PDF editor really free?

Yes. Opening, editing, annotating, merging, splitting and downloading your PDF is free, with no account required.

Can I edit existing text inside a PDF?

Yes, through cover-and-replace editing. The editor detects the closest standard font, original size, bold/italic style, and sampled text/background colours. Unusual subset-embedded custom fonts may use the closest available match.

What happens to a password-protected PDF?

You'll be asked for the password locally in your browser. It's used only to open the file in memory and is never sent anywhere.

Is there a file size limit?

Recommended up to 100 MB. Larger files may work depending on your device's available memory — the editor will tell you if a file is too large to process safely rather than freezing.

Do I need to install any software?

No installation needed. The editor runs entirely inside your web browser, so it works the same way on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebooks.

Does this PDF editor work on mobile phones?

Yes, the editor is responsive and works on mobile browsers, though larger PDFs are easier to edit on a bigger screen.

Will the downloaded PDF have a watermark?

No watermark is added to your downloaded PDF.
